Introducing our #TIALSBB of the week, Rue!  We can't stop jamming out to her RnB infused pop style music, be sure to check out her latest single "Bleach"! We got a chance to sit down and ask her some questions about her music inspiration, her life goals and what she's planning for the future.

TIALS: What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?

Rue: My music is pop, with a splash of hip hop/rnb . I like to sing either style, it depends on the mood of the song and how it needs to be sung. It's hard pin point my biggest influences... probably Amy Winehouse, p!nk, Lauryn Hill, Madonna, Nina Simone, Kanye West and Eminem. I love Eminem. 8 Mile was a turning point in my childhood.

TIALS: How has your music evolved since you first began?

Rue: In so many ways, because I've evolved as a person. I know what I want now.. before I was shy and felt like i needed to follow the examples of what others around me were doing. I don't really care anymore... I do what I feel and let that marinate. In the beginning I didn't know any better, I thought because I was green to this that I needed to follow guidelines. I threw my own rule book out the window.

TIALS: When and why did you start singing?

Rue: I sang when I was a kid just secretly but never really at all, I was too afraid to sing in public. Every opportunity I had to sing in public I either almost passed out or croaked. I started taking it seriously about a year and a half ago. I've been on an intense journey of absorbing and learning and creating ever since. A lot of ups and downs, a lot of people have come in and out of my life to teach me in that time, but I eat it up because I'm hungry for it.

TIALS: Has the L.A. lifestyle influenced your music in anyway? If so, how?

Rue: Sound-wise, no. Content-wise, maybe, because all of my experiences influence me and go into the music one way or another.. I don't really care for LA too much, but it's taught me a lot so it's a mixed bag

TIALS: What’s one thing that always makes you smile?

Rue: Seeing other people happy. Seeing people accomplish what they've fought for. Also puppies.

TIALS: What is your biggest goal in life?

Rue: To make the world better through my art. I have so many goals outside of music that my music is the vessel to. I hate that people have to deal with so much pain throughout their lives, some of which they aren't able to overcome. I want at least the music that I make to make people feel they are a part of something, and to understand that the human experience is shared and even if they feel alone they AREN'T. Outside of music I have a lot of goals that I hope to accomplish- the main thing is I want to do whatever I can to make the world better and become a better person myself.

TIALS: Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?

Rue: People who do not give a fuck. I love anything that is rebellious. I'm not into following trends. If I like it, I wear it.

TIALS: What inspired you to get into music?

Rue: Initially, because it was how I learned to process and understand emotions. I then realized that music empowered me, it gave me the voice I didn't have when i'm just speaking. After that it was just a matter of overcoming myself.

TIALS: What do you want to be doing in your career in the next five years?

Rue: I know what I want. But we will see in 5 years.

TIALS: What can your fans expect from you next?

Rue: A lot, but I'll be releasing my EP soon.

We definitely can't wait until the release of her new EP. In the meantime, be sure to listen to "Bleach"  now!
